Before you choose a Ripley address: five checks

A suburb name is a starting point, not a description of your daily life. Compare the particular address against the trips, services and routines your household will actually use.

1. Test your ordinary weekday

Write down where each person needs to be and when: work, school, care and regular appointments. Check the outward and return journeys separately. Include walking to a stop, waiting and connections rather than judging a journey only by distance.

2. Check schooling against the address

Use Queensland EdMap with the intended calendar year and school year level. A nearby school or an estate brochure does not establish the catchment. If a new address is unclear, ask the school before relying on an assumption.

3. Separate open facilities from future plans

Make two columns: available now, and proposed or not yet confirmed. Put a dated official source next to each item. Start with Development Watch, then follow the original record; an announcement is not evidence that a facility is operating.

4. Look at the trips between errands

Explore Ripley and South Ripley separately. Compare the shops, parks and services you would use together. Check the exact precinct and address rather than treating similarly named businesses as the same place.

5. Turn unanswered questions into a checklist

Record the question, the organisation that can answer it and the date you checked. Keep private address documents with the relevant provider, not a public comment thread. Once the move is decided, switch to our getting-settled checklist.
